Position Overview: A Production Pharmacist plays a crucial role in pharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring that medications are produced efficiently, safely, and in accordance with regulatory standards. They are responsible for overseeing various stages of the production process, from raw material procurement to packaging and distribution. The role requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical principles, quality control procedures, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Oversight:

    • Manage and coordinate all aspects of pharmaceutical production, including formulation, compounding, filling, and packaging.
    • Ensure that production processes comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Monitor production schedules and adjust as necessary to meet demand while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  2. Quality Assurance:

    • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the consistency, purity, and potency of manufactured products.
    • Conduct regular inspections of production facilities, equipment, and procedures to identify and address any deviations or deficiencies.
    • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  3. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory guidelines and standards related to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
    • Ensure that production activities adhere to relevant regulations, including FDA (or equivalent) requirements, GMP, and other applicable standards.
    • Prepare and maintain documentation, such as batch records, production reports, and SOPs, to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Team Management:

    • Supervise production personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective performance and adherence to protocols.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the production team.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as Quality Control, Supply Chain, and R&D, to optimize production processes and resolve operational challenges.
  5. Inventory Management:

    • Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products, coordinating procurement activities to maintain adequate supplies.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste, loss, and expiration of materials.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy or related field.
  • Licensed Pharmacist (if required by jurisdiction).
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical production or manufacturing, with a thorough understanding of GMP and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and collaborate across departments.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on ensuring product quality and compliance.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software relevant to production and quality management.
