Do you have experience working with young people with Autism? Can you engage with students who struggle with communication?

We are currently working with a Special Educational Needs school in Darlington. They are currently looking to recruit a teaching assistant who has experience working within SEN, specifically autism.
The school caters for primary and secondary aged students who have Autism, amongst other needs. The school is very well managed and staff are well supported, however this can be a physically and mentally challenging role.

You will be expected to work within a small class usually numbering between 5-8 students. Each class has a teacher and 2 to 3 teaching assistants, enabling all pupils to receive the appropriate amount of care and support.

Key Skills And Experience Needed

SEN experience is essential, preferably with young people with autism / ASD
Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
Strong behaviour management
One to one and small group work
Professional manner
Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
