It is a complex needs special secondary (age range 11 - 19) and the students all have severe or moderate learning disabilities. The School are looking for LSA's who have a positive approach, who are able to manage challenging behaviour with a resilent personality. This is an exciting position for someone who is looking for a role longer term with the chances on moving to a permanent contract later in the school year.

Your main duties will include:

• Inspiring and engaging with young adults with social, emotional and attachment issues
• Assessing individual learning needs and working on this in a group basis.
• Preparing materials, equipment and lessons
• Assessing and reporting on individual pupils' progress .
• Liaising with parents, carers and professionals such as mainstream teachers, education welfare officers, social workers and Healthcare professionals

The successful candidates need to have previous experience of working with SEND students and have a strong desire of getting involved in every aspect of the school. Experience with children and young adults that have Autism and SEMH.

Other experience & qualifications desirable:

• Team Teach/MAPA qualified
• Positive handling
• First Aid trained

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
