Protocol Education are currently recruiting for Early Years Assistants to work in various nurseries in the Richmond area.

The Role

·The Early Years Assistant will contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery and work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop
·To build and maintain strong partnerships with parents and work within the requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage - Setting the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.
·Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.
·Working between the hours of 7.30-18.30 Monday - Friday

Requirements
·Work within Team Midcounties Skills and Behaviours, which define how all colleagues are expected to approach their work and sits alongside what is expected from colleagues within their job description
·To contribute to your own Personal Development Plan to support the development of skills and career development.
·To be accountable for safeguarding children. Being responsible for immediately raising any concerns and following the correct process. To provide support, advice and guidance to any other colleagues, parents and other professionals on an ongoing basis, and on any specific safeguarding issue as required.
·To contribute to a programme of learning experiences that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members.
·To keep records of key children's development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child's life.
·Engage in good team working and develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person.
·Work as part of a team to ensure effective staff deployment and ratios are met, being flexible on shift patterns to ensure children's safety at all times. Take personal responsibility to inform senior members of the team if staff deployment falls below required levels.
·Help children become familiar with the setting offering a settled relationship for the children, building a positive relationship with their parents and any other family members.
·To be involved in any overall nursery activities (including out of working hours activities) e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent evenings, fundraising events, volunteering etc.
·To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
·Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the Childcare Groups values (DOES) are fulfilled and that the targets for the Nursery Steering Wheel measures are met.
·Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures and act in accordance with current legislation and good practice.
·To support the children's care and welfare on a daily basis in line with their individual needs.
·Ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects the child.
·To respect the confidentiality of all information received.
·To ensure good standards of safety, security, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
·Have the ability to manage children's behaviour positively, communicate with parents to support the children's developmental needs.
·To attend training identified in your performance reviews or one to ones and any other training courses that are necessary for you to fulfil your role. (training may involve travelling to other locations)
·Work towards the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice to support identified children's needs and ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history.
·To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside.
·Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
·Take care of personal appearance and comply with society dress codes, attend work on time, work to the best of your ability, work performance to meet the required operational standards, work neatly and accurately paying attention to detail.
·Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.
Please note: We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £44.00.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
