Protocol Education are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work in a Primary School Located in Ealing. You will work Monday- Friday assisting the class teacher with the individual education, supervision and welfare of children with special educational needs.

The role;
Provide support to pupils, particularly those identified with SEN, under the direction of the class teacher, including the following:
• Establish a supportive relationship with the children you are working with.
• Be aware of the children's individual needs as outlined in their Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or support plan.
• Help the children to learn as effectively and independently as possible, both in group situations and on their own, e.g. clarify and explain instructions; ensure children are able to use equipment and materials; hear children read; follow individual literacy or maths programmes, follow programmes devised by outside professionals
• Attend sessions delivered to the child, by outside professionals, during the school day.
• Prepare individual resources for the children you are supporting.
• Keep records of the children's progress.
• Help pupils to concentrate on and finish the work set.
• Motivate and encourage children, and help them to develop their self-esteem.
• Ensure that children are aware of the school's behaviour policy, and support children in complying with that policy.
• Meet children's physical needs, while encouraging independence, e.g. help children to change for PE lessons or swimming, assist them at whilst eating.
• Support children to interact successfully with their peers
• To carry out playground duties each week.

The right candidate will have;
• Develop an understanding of the educational, welfare and social needs of the pupils with whom s/he is working.
• Have due regard to the confidentiality of information on children.
• Form good relationships with pupils, other staff and parents.
• Work co-operatively as part of a team.
• Become familiar with and apply the school's policies, particularly policies for health and safety, equality of opportunity and the management of pupils' behaviour.
• Have, or obtain, a recognised qualification in first aid.
• Be prepared to attend in-service training in paid time.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
