About the role
Working primarily in mainstream classrooms, the successful candidates will support one or two hearing impaired pupils and help them communicate more effectively with their class teacher and other hearing pupils. He / She will join the enthusiastic and energetic team of our Hearing-Impaired Department.

·Assist the Teacher of the Deaf in the delivery and monitoring of support arrangements for signing pupils.
·Monitor the effectiveness of integration.
·Ensure that the deaf child has maximum access to the mainstream curriculum and that verbal instructions are understood with the use of signing.
·Provide educational and pastoral support in both classroom and Hearing-Impaired base, in accordance with the advice and requirements of the Head of the Department and the classroom teacher.
·Enable the pupils to develop communication skills, social interaction, independence, self-help and organisational skills.
·Support the Teacher of the Deaf and mainstream staff in the effective use, maintenance and management of specialist equipment and resources and to report any problems to the Teacher of the Deaf.
·Ensure where possible that hearing-aids and radio aides are in, on and working.
·Be responsible for the regular charging of radio aides and soundfield systems
·Support the collection of information on pupil progress and contribute to the planning, maintenance and evaluation of pupil support programmes.
·Maintain records and profiles on individual pupils in accordance with the requirements of the Teacher of the Deaf, class teacher and school procedures.
·Participate in appropriate administrative duties associated with the running of the Department.
·Encourage full involvement of the deaf signing pupils in the life of the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
