We are working with a mainstream primary school in the Willenhall area, West Midlands, who are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support a student with special needs to start after half term. They are looking for someone with experience of working with children with special needs - whether your experience has been within a school, nursery or similar setting. The vacancy will see you working within Key Stage One with a pupil with autism. This will be a varied role as part of your responsibility will include leading group interventions for small groups of pupils within KS1.

The school would ideally like to meet candidates who have worked in similar roles previously, within mainstream schools.

SEN TA requirements:

Have experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally using Makaton to support communication (desirable but not essential)
Have experience with Speech & Language support
Experience of supporting pupils with autism
Be able to support the pupil with their communication skills
Have a strong academic background in English and mathematics
Be a positive role model for the pupil
Believe in high expectations and be committed to seeing that every child reaches their full potential
Be a good team player
Be able to inspire learning in and beyond the classroom.
