The role is within a special school that has been recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted since 2014, the school is for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and additional complex needs including Autism. The school prides themselves in having high standards and continually working on improving their pupils' performances.

As a teaching assistant, you need to be inspiring and enthusiastic to work alongside senior leaders and class teachers, to accelerate the learning of pupils. It is important to create an environment that is nurturing, encouraging and supportive while at the same time setting challenges.The focus of the role will be to support pupils achieve their full potential in their academic, social, creative, personal, physical and moral development. As well as build their confidence to become as independent as possible.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:

·Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
