Protocol Education are currently seeking a dedicated, passionate and determined Youth Mentor for a special needs school supporting children aged 5 to 16 who have social, emotional, mental health needs. Our school is a first-choice school for parents within the local authority, for children and young people identified with specific needs. The school is looking for compassionate and persistent individual aiming to provide a happy, stimulating and safe learning environment where pupils are positively encouraged to engage in their learning and boost their self-esteem.

Teachers within the school are exceptional practitioners, including the schools strong support network of professionals based on site including an Educational Psychologist, full time Therapist, Counsellor, Speech and Language therapists, a School Nurse and Drama Therapists. One of your main responsibilities will be to assist learners' needs and ensure they reach their full potential whilst being committed to upholding the schools' values.

We are looking for individuals willing to support pupils with a wide range of needs such as profound and multiple learning disabilities and behavioural difficulties. Those who are committed to supporting and empowering each student to achieve their ambitions and goals, whilst developing skills to become more independent members of their community.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:

·Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
