This role is based within a special needs' primary schools for children aged 4 to 19 who have severe Autism. Our school value the importance of embracing individual uniqueness within every child, and foster learning within a safe and encouraging environment so that each pupil can flourish and feel a sense of accomplishment, belonging and acceptance. An essential part of your role is to work 1:1 with pupils or in small groups.

This school aims to help children realise their potential by embracing different teaching techniques and learning inducements differentiated to meet individual needs, engaging them in decision making. The roles of a support assistant will be to promote outstanding and inspiring education, adapted to the individual needs in a safe and secure environment.


This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:

·Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
