SEND TA - Croydon

A special educational needs teaching assistant is required at an all through special school in Croydon. The school itself is a Outstanding special school for students aged 4-19 with profound, physical and mental disabilities.
The class sizes are small due to the nature of the impairments and the maximum capacity is 5 children per class and tends to have 4 support staff and 1 teacher which gives a balanced student to staff ratio.

The role requires you to be a confident TA with experience working with PMLD and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) or ASD (Autistic Spectrum Condition) children. Their are also elements of hoisting, moving and handling and personal care, although previous training or experience in this would be beneficial the school are also interested in staff who are keen and will to learn with a "can do" attitude.

This school has been graded Outstanding in each of the their last 3 Ofsted reviews and is regarded as one of the leading special needs schools in London and is known for fulfilling and exceeding students potentials. A lot of the staff at the school have been their for many years as the school have developed a "family environment" that sees all staff treated as equals and given the same opportunities to progress through the school.

Main Duties:
• Supporting students with work set by the class teacher
• Assisting with moving & handling/personal care/hoisting
• Working with the teacher to assess pupils levels and ability
• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented
• Liaising with parents and carers

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
