We are seeking a learning support assistant to work in a happy, thriving, oversubscribed and growing special school for children and young people aged 4 -19 with severe and complex learning. Our school is committed to supporting all our pupils to achieve and enjoy and be inspired and challenged to fulfil their potential.

You will be working within a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff who have high expectations of their pupils as well as having high expectations of themselves and their teaching. The focus of the role will be to support pupils achieve their full potential in their academic, social, creative, personal, physical and moral development. As well as build their confidence to become as independent as possible, whilst continuously building their self-esteem.

As a specialist facility, the school require someone who experienced or open about working in special needs. As part of the role, we offer accredited CPD that include learning strategies, behaviour techniques and medical procedures. As an added benefit, the school offer residential shift work in the evening and mornings supporting learners in a home setting. Shifts are optional and are separate from working in the school.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour.
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills.

For this role, you will have:

·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
