Protocol Education are currently seeking individuals with a background in Autism Spectrum Conditions for short term leading to long term placements in several specialist education settings located in South and West Leeds, Central Bradford, Wakefield and on the Wakefield/Kirklees border.

We are looking for candidates who have a history of educational, residential or vocational support based specifically around individuals with Autism and Asperger's.

We would favour experience with any of the following fields; Intensive Interaction, Challenging Behaviour, understanding of varying Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs, Echolalia, Pica Behaviours, Personal Care, Person-centred Care, Makaton, PECS, Sign Language, Social Stories and Epilepsy.

Existing Team Teach training or a willingness to acquire the training is preferred but not essential as each setting has differing de-escalation polices in place.

The schools provide a structured and supportive environment to help meet the personal and academic needs of pupils at each stage of their schooling.  We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled individuals dedicated to making a real difference to young people lives.

The ideal candidate should be flexible, adaptable, a good communicator, have a cheerful disposition and respond calmly under pressure. They must be willing to deliver consistent, person centred support.

The successful support candidates will have a varied role, which involves supporting the teacher in all aspects to ensure that pupils receive the most effective support. You will be able to demonstrate a practical, hands on approach to supporting teaching and be prepared to go above and beyond.

Successful teaching candidates will ideally have a strong background in teaching learners on the autistic spectrum, with confidence to deliver an adapted Key Stage 1 and 2 syllabus.

We are looking to place candidates in long term roles to help maintain a reliable and familiar learning environment.

Protocol Education adheres to the following from its Support Workers;

• A DBS certificate with a live subscription to the update service or be willing to get one.
• Two professional references within the last three years.
• Someone who is committed to the safeguarding of young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
