The work is person centred and we aim to help each student live as self-sufficiently as possible.

As a Care Worker, your aim is to support students with their daily lives as well as treat them with respect and in dignified manner, whilst respecting their privacy. This specialist college provides an engaging and caring learning environment for visually impaired students aged 18 to 25.

The college takes pride in creating an environment that ensures students are welcomed and feel safe and that staff treat them well. The main purpose of the role will be to provide children and their families with the support, care and services they need to live happy, healthy and fruitful lives.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

•Managing pupil's behaviour
•Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
•Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:

•Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
•Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
•Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
•Happy to work one to one and small group work.
•An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
