1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant needed ASAP

A small ASD SEN School with just 55 pupils based in Radlett is a specialist provision for children and young adults with autism and other associated needs.

They are opening their doors for some passionate, dedicated and resilient new support staff.

Life at this school is very rewarding, always fun and no day is the same. They have a strong sense of community, helping children and young people feel they belong both in the school and in the wider community is highly important to them. After spending some time at the school, I can 100% say that the school staff have a very welcoming, supportive and togetherness attitude which is felt from the first second.
The school offer ongoing training for staff to ensure they are kept current and able to continue to grow their knowledge as Learner Support Workers.

Previous experience working with children with varying special educational needs within schools or a specialist SEN environment is preferable but not essential. Or alternatively working with adults within a residential, out reach or day centre setting.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Taking instruction from the class teacher
• Working on a 1:1 basis with children who have ASD and other associated needs
• Assisting with learning and social skills
• Personal care experience is ideal but not essential
• Carrying out interactive activities to help build their knowledge


The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience and knowledge of SEND ( special educational needs and disabilities )
• Patience, empathy, resilience and confidence
• Capable of following instructions as well as the ability to use own initiative
• True passion for helping make a difference in the life of children and young adults
• Quick thinking and adaptable
• Good sense of humour
• Willingness and dedication
Driver would be ideal but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
