As a Youth Mentor, your role will be to provide support and encouragement to young people. An important part of your role will be to transform a young person's life for the better, through positive relationships and engaged learning.

The school is committed to creating an inclusive environment for their pupils, treating everyone with dignity and respect, responding positively to different needs and circumstances so that everyone can achieve their potential. A vital part of your role will be to build upon the foundation of the school's curriculum providing high quality teaching and learning.

The curriculum is intended to ensure that staff are working to achieve the best possible results for all their students in their lives, especially around long-term outcomes such as employment, living as independently as possible with the greatest degree of self-sufficiency, enjoying good health and wellbeing.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour.
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills.

For this role, you will have:

·Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
