A primary school that caters for children with special needs including autism is looking for learning support assistants to join their team. The school is located near a tram stop and has excellent links. The school would like staff to join them on a flexible basis to begin with but with the view to go permanent. The school are in need for more staff due to increased head count on the school roll and increased care responsibility in the classroom. All applicants must have recent experience working with children with special educational needs, in either a primary school or specialist SEN environment. The class consists of 5-8 pupils with a broad range of learning difficulties and complex medical needs.

Required:
• At least 3 months working/volunteering with children or vulnerable adults.
• Flexibility to work across different age groups and classes
• Available 5 days a week
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to remain calm
• Punctual and reliable
• Good understanding of Special education needs and Autism
• Experience managing challenging behaviour

As a teaching assistant at this school you will be:
• Leading small groups with guided reading
• Supporting functional skills
• Encouraging positive social interaction with peers
• Offering extra support where necessary
• Ensuring pupils have a safe learning environment
• Implementing a variety of strategies to cater for different learning abilities
• Helping with playground duty

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
