Protocol Education is currently working with a primary school in the London borough of Barking & Dagenham, looking for a behaviour support assistant to work in the ARP unit with children (aged 4-11 years)

The school is a larger-than-average-sized primary school with over half of pupils eligible for pupil premium (additional government funding) which is well above average. The pupil referral unit can be quite challenging so require excellent behaviour management and for people who apply for this role to be team teach trained. Nearly two thirds of pupils belong to ethnic groups other than White British; over half of these do not have English as their first language. A third of pupils are of Black African heritage. Ofsted has rated the school Good' with strong leadership

The school are looking for a passionate and creative teaching assistant who has experience working with challenging behaviours. You must be enthusiastic and highly motivated and will be expected to make a significant contribution to the school. Barking and Dagenham is an outer London Borough to the east of the City on the north bank of the River Thames and within the M25 London Orbital Motorway. It is an ideal location, only 25 minutes from the shops, museums, theatres, concerts, art galleries, sightseeing and entertainment to be found in central London. Alternatively, only a few minutes drive from the countryside.


The ideal candidate will have:

Team Teach Training
A background as a youth worker
Experience working with children with SEMH
Strong behaviour management and physically active
Ability to work 1-1 or with small groups on specific programmes if required
Dedication, motivation and will want to make a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
