A specialist school in the Welling area is looking for SEN teaching assistants to work with pupils who have special needs including autism. This role is five days a week during school hours.

Duties will include helping the pupils engage with the lessons, working on a one to one basis in some cases and assisting the pupils where needed during lunch times and to the bathroom

Candidates must be creative and adaptable with a passion for working with school-aged children. You should be able to demonstrate a proactive nature, have a flexible approach, good organisational skills and the ability to build relationships with children and work well within a team. All our teaching assistants have a wider responsibility to monitor the welfare of all of our pupils throughout the day as dictated by school requirements, in particular during break times and lunchtimes.

The position requires experience of working with children with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language, attachment difficulties. You will assist the child in accessing all areas of the curriculum to the best of his/her ability. The post involves working alongside the class teacher to provide effective learning support to one particular pupil and to other individuals and groups of children in the class, and as required across the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
