Protocol education are pleased to be recruiting for an outstanding special school located in Wandsworth. We are looking for learning support assistants/teaching assistants that have experience using British sign language (BSL).

Our school specialises in providing an inclusive multi-modal communication environment for deaf young people and hearing young people who have language, communication and/or auditory processing difficulties. In addition to this many of the young people have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Successful candidates will be required to support and help the development of hearing-impaired students across all ages, support academic studies, develop students social and communication skills in a classroom setting.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Skills and qualifications required:

•Certified in British Sign language (BSL) level 2 or above
•Communicate with parents and carers
•Able to relay BSL from hearing impaired students to non-signing students or adults.
•Excellent strategic & communication skills, the ability to use initiative and that can work well under pressure.
•Positions are subject to an enhance disclosure barred service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
