Protocol Education are currently working with an excellent SEND Early Years and Primary School in Ealing, who are looking for an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant with special needs support experience to join their school as soon as possible.
You will be working in a class of 10 early years Profound Multiple Learning Difficulty students (PMLD). Most of the children you will be working with have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. The Class teacher will oversee the entire class, however, there is expectation that you will take smaller groups of the class and lead them in some activies such as numeracy sessions, art sessions etc. You will help the class teacher with the planning of the class and activities to be set up for the week ahead.

To be eligible to apply for this position, it is essential that you have experience supporting students with complex needs (physical disabilities, wheelchair bound students) and their personal care needs - this will involve changing and feeding. Experience in care support will be considered. The school has an in-built swimming complex and the successful TA will have to be comfortable in a swimming environment and on occasion may have to enter the pool. In addition to this, PECS and/or Makaton will be useful in this post; however, training will be provided. You will be upskilled in the following areas - Manual Handling; so that you can assist with their students' needs.
Ideal candidate will have the following:
-Manual handling
-Early Years /Nursery support experience
-Complex Needs support experience
-Ability to lead small groups of students independently

You will need to be available to start ASAP, as well as being able to commit to working full school hours, a minimum of 3 school days per week. You must have a good command of numeracy and literacy, as this is especially important when supporting pupils with limited communication skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
