In conjunction with the driver, to assist passengers on and off the vehicle as well as securing them and any wheelchairs in the vehicle with appropriate safety restraints. To assist with the fitting/removing of specialist seats and equipment as required, ensuring adequate seating is available at all times.
To supervise passengers during the journey and be responsible for the safety and general welfare of service users whilst respecting their personal dignity. Reporting to the Passenger Fleet Team management, any accidents, incidents or difficulties that occur. To assist Service Users in their homes or day care venue prior to boarding the vehicles and at their destination as requested.
To interpret situations and events as they arise in a calm and efficient manner to enable management of service user behaviour that can at times be challenging and unpredictable. The role will require close contact with vulnerable adults and children with special needs – including behavioural and physical – which can, on occasion, put the job holder into emotionally difficult situations.
To work to pre-planned schedules and complete any record of work, accident and incident reports and any other record of passenger utilisation that may be required by law, the County Council, the ‘Code of Practice’ or Procedures Manual.
To be able to communicate effectively between and with any representative of the County Council, Service Users, Carers and members of the public, maintaining a professional image at all times.
To ensure the safe storage and security of passengers’ personal belongings and medication at all times whilst they are in the care of the transport service.
To deal with emergencies, according to Departmental procedure and complete all relevant documentation.
To assist in the unloading, securing and delivering of any miscellaneous goods or equipment as directed by the PFT managers.
Must have a enhanced DBS
Must be able to work flexible hours.
Shift times 7.45am to10am and again at 2pm to 5pm must be free for both shifts.
