We're looking for an EC&I Technician to work for our client.

We are seeking an experienced EC&I Technician to join our team in Newport, Isle of Wight, on a temporary contract to support the Maintenance team during a peak operational period. In this role, you will provide crucial technical support to the operational team, addressing electrical, control, and instrumentation challenges while ensuring the completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and annual instrument compliance.

2 days: 5:45 AM - 5:00 PM
2 days: 11:45 AM - 11:00 PM
 
Role Responsibilities:
 
  • Act as the Electrical Duty Holder for the site.
  • Support and participate in plant safety schemes (Near Misses, Incident Investigations) and implement resulting recommendations.
  • Ensure all E, C&I assets comply with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in achieving the Operations & Maintenance Team's KPIs.
  • Implement and test software modules and systems.
  • Conduct fault finding and investigations using Siemens PCS7 or equivalent systems.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, instructions, method statements, and guidance documents.
  • Implement, maintain, and test SCADA systems.
  • Take ownership of the Safety Instrumented System, including maintenance and proof testing.
  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled outages to ensure all C&I work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) related to EC&I issues.
  • Accurately report maintenance activities within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist in identifying failure modes for all equipment.
 
Skills and Experience:
 
  • Extensive experience with electrical installation systems in both domestic and industrial settings.
  • Proven practical understanding of Health & Safety in relation to electrical engineering, including construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Ability to provide technically sound design solutions and associated reporting, including cost estimation.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to Electrical Maintenance team members.
  • Ability to assess the condition of equipment and installations, making informed judgements.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto-CAD, PowerPoint, and other software.

Qualifications:

 
  • Certificate in Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Completion of a recognised EC&I Apprenticeship Scheme.
  • ONC/HNC in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
