Sea-Kit International is a World-Class provider of High Technology Solutions to the Maritime and Research industries, aiming to open new fields and classes of technology to solve problems of the future, today.
We are one of the first designer and builder of autonomous vessels and have developed the USV Sea-Kit' which has recently won first prize of the Ocean Discovery X-Prize. We are now using the momentum of our recent hugely successful demonstrations in both the XPrize and the first commercial crossing of the North Sea by an unmanned vessel to expand the company by conducting exciting new projects and building a fleet of unmanned vessels.
We require a multi-skilled, versatile vessel skipper with good experience at sea to assist with an operation in Norway in June/July 2019 and potentially fill a permanent role in the future. They will be required take a watch and responsibility for the autonomous vessel from our control centre for AUV survey operations (including remote launch/recovery). The Sea-Kit USV (unmanned surface vessel) is operated from a remote bridge, which is stationed ashore. It can be based anywhere in the world, providing the operator with full situational awareness and control features.
The successful candidate will be based in Norway for the duration of the operation which expected to start on 24th June 2019 and cease no later than 26th July 2019. Shoreside accommodation provided and living expenses covered while in Norway. Training in operation of the vessel will be provided either at our office in Tollesbury, Essex or on site in Bergen, Norway prior to the initial operations. IT skills desirable and up to date knowledge of Maritime regulations essential. For the right candidate, there is potential to turn this into a full time position at the company.
• Minimum Yachtmaster 200gt (commercially endorsed)
• Full UK Driving License
• Good knowledge of maritime regulations
• Good watchkeeping experience offshore on board workboats
• Practical, efficient & resourceful
• Positive attitude and good work ethic
• Experience managing vessels
• Genuine interest in maritime autonomy and future technologies
• Willing to travel internationally as required by the project
• Based within commutable distance to Tollesbury, Essex (or willing to relocate)
£25,000 to £30,000pa DOE
Shoreside accommodation provided and living expenses covered while in Norway.
